Padma Lakshmi[1] believes spiritual forces are behind her success.

Soon to host the 16th season of “Top Chef,” the Indian-American beauty was honored by the James Beard Foundation under a huge tent at the Wölffer Estate in the Hamptons.

“My middle name is Parvati, the Hindu goddess of wisdom and war, who is rather comparable to the Greek Athena and the Roman Minerva,” the former model told writer Gregory Speck.

“And Lakshmi is the name of the Hindu goddess of prosperity,” she said. “So maybe some providential forces are at play in all of this!”

The ex-wife of Salman Rushdie was with her daughter, Krishna, and the girl’s father, Adam Dell, the brother of computer billionaire Michael Dell.
