Steve Dunleavy — the legendary newspaperman who became a TV star on “A Current Affair” — took a break from his retirement in the Florida Keys for the closing of Langan’s, the West 47th Street watering hole where he was once a regular.
The man known as “Mr. Blood and Guts” and “the Errol Flynn of Fleet Street” traded war stories with former colleagues who raised glasses and lamented the gentrification of Midtown.
“We were paying $16,000 a month,” said Langan’s co-owner Des O’Brien. “They raised it to $53,000.”
Journalist Diane Dimond, who covered O.J. and Michael Jackson, said, “This is a shame. The restaurant down the street, Dervish, has been vacant for three years. What can they be thinking?”
