Each new analysis of the opioid addiction crisis seems to produce evidence that the impact is even worse than the more than 42,000 known opioid overdose deaths in 2016. The death toll is so bad that it has reduced Americans' statistical life expectancy from 78.7 years in 2015 to 78.6 years in 2016.
