The fabulous life of interior decorator Mario Buatta will be celebrated on Jan. 21 at the Park Avenue Armory during The Winter Show, which he so dearly loved and chaired for many years.

The Buatta family (including his brother Joe and his cousins) with Pat Altschul, Anne Eisenhower, Emily Eerdmans and Hilary Geary Ross host the tribute to Buatta, who was known as “The Prince of Chintz” and died in October at 82.

Kip Forbes and Carleton Varney are expected to speak.

Among those flying in for the celebration is Peggy Lee’s granddaughter Holly Foster Wells, who’ll be carrying a trove of pictures of Buatta and Lee together. Mario never missed Peggy’s concerts, Joan Rivers’ appearances, or the performances of Barry Humphries (a k a Dame Edna Everage).

Buatta still found time to manage a formidable decorating practice with clients including Mariah Carey, Barbara Walters and Billy Joel. Space is limited but a few seats remain — contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
