The Rev. Al Sharpton[1] honored Jeffrey Wright[2] and Terrence Howard[3] last week, but he won’t ever be honoring Kanye West[4].

“I think Kanye is at best confused and being manipulated,” Sharpton told me of West’s White House visit[5]. “Apparently, Kanye thought he was freestyling and Trump thought he was booking artists at his showroom in Atlantic City, because it served no purpose.”

At the Rose Theater at Lincoln Center, Sharpton also presented National Action Network Triumph Awards to lawyer Joe Tacopina, Dia Simms (who runs Diddy’s Combs Enterprises), Starbucks’ Rosalind Brewer, AT&T’s Tanya Lombard and Essence president Michelle Ebanks.
