Rep. Beto O’Rourke, the Kennedy-esque Democrat trying to unseat Sen. Ted Cruz[1] in Texas, was back in Manhattan on Wednesday night for a fundraiser emceed by Andy Cohen[2].

Cohen, the man responsible for the “Real Housewives” franchise at Bravo, helped sell so many tickets starting at $500, the event, co-chaired by gay-rights activist David Mixner, had to be moved from the Kitchen in Chelsea to the larger Cutting Room on East 32nd Street. O’Rourke, who has been gushingly compared to Bobby Kennedy and Barack Obama, held a fund-raiser this summer in Manhattan, which drew Paul Rudd, Michael Urie and Stephanie March.

“Texans might not like the elite company he’s keeping in New York, but O’Rourke doesn’t have a choice,” said one Democrat. “He needs the money.”

Hillary Clinton will headline a simultaneous fund-raiser, hosted by uptown socialite Lauren Santo Domingo, for five female congressional candidates, with tickets starting at $1,000.
