Elon Musk[1], who has had a tough year, is not expected this week at Burning Man, the temporary city in the Nevada desert dedicated to art, music, sex and drugs.

The Tesla creator went every year for nine years, but this year the SEC is reportedly investigating Tesla after Musk’s recent tweet[2] about taking the company private, which led to wild swings in the price of its stock.

Musk — who has admitted to taking Ambien[3] to help him sleep, but denied he was stoned on pot when he posted the fateful tweet — can’t afford to be seen partying this year with 70,000 revelers, who will end the week with a giant Burning Man bonfire.

In 2014, Musk criticized the HBO series “Silicon Valley” for missing the Burning Man ethos that permeates the tech industry:

“If you haven’t been, you just don’t get it. You could take the craziest LA party and multiply it by a thousand, and it doesn’t even get f - - king close.”
