David Meyer — who made his debut on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” last week as Camille Grammer[1]’s new fiancé — is a lawyer with a past.

Meyer once represented con artist Troy Stratos, who was sentenced to nearly 22 years in prison in 2016 for scamming $43 million from his victims, including Eddie Murphy’s ex-wife Nicole. Stratos pleaded guilty to swiping $10 million of the $15 million that his childhood friend Nicole got from Eddie Murphy in their 2005 divorce.

Stratos and Meyer were so close, a lawyer for some of the con man’s victims asked Kenneth Dennis (Stratos’ brother-in-law), if Stratos and Meyer were “romantically involved.”

“I don’t know,” Dennis replied in his deposition. “Nothing overt. It just seems rather odd that if indeed — if indeed Meyer went outside the bounds of what an attorney should do for a client, why would they — why would he do that for him?”

Meyer’s firm at the time, Venable, was sued for malpractice related to their representation of Stratos in 2013. A lawyer for Venable argued he would show that neither Meyer nor Venable knew “fraudulent activity was going on.”

“You’re going to have a very tough job,” US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Harry Pregerson replied. The case was ultimately settled in 2017.

Meyer, identified only as David on “RHOBH,” was shown meeting Camille’s co-stars at a tequila-fueled dinner party at the house of Kyle Richards as the women congratulated Camille because he’s so handsome.

Meyer and Grammer got engaged in October,[2] but court papers filed in November 2017 allege that Meyer wasn’t divorced yet from Wendy, his wife of 11 years and mother of his two sons.
